The women of the Thesmophoria are plotting to kill Euripides. Euripides sends a friend of his, Mnesilochus (dressed as woman, of course!) to stand up for him at the Thesmophoria.
In the comedy that follows, Aristophanes parodies Euripides and the absurdity of the women's festival. The text is indicitave of the suppression of women during that period in history.
