Herbert G. Wells

1866 - 1946 *

widely considered the father of science fiction, H.G. Wells' works are important political and social commentary of the 20th century.

H.G. Wells was an outspoken social reformer, whose works were influenced strongly by a scientific background. Jules Verne had a strong influence on him, and the genre of science fiction owes its visionary aspects to Wells.
