composer of unique, succinct novels and short stories with an individuality and style that would shape American writing.
Ernest Hemingway’s prose is a product of his individuality. Hemingway was always obsessed with athletic prowess; he was good at sports when he was young, badly wounded in Italy when part of the Red Cross, and enjoyed bull-fighting and game-hunting.
His novels, crisp and simplistic in form, and his short stories, draw upon these experiences. These works deal with issues of human nature and life in a unique way.
Hemingway was awarded with the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1954. He committed suicide in 1961.
