James M. Barrie

1860 - 1937 *

Scottish dramatist and novelist whose work is characterised by his unique view of life.


Barrie was born in the Scottish town of Kirriemuir and educated at the University of Edinburgh. He later moved to London, where he started his literary career.

Barrie is, according one of his closest friends, like the protagonist of his play Peter Pan, who never grew up. His works are characterised by a personal innocence, and shaped by his view of life as a romantic journey.
