The best known of Asimov's varied work are his science fiction novels. As a biochemist, plausable scientific theory characterises these works.

Asimov was a prolific writer; he published some 500 volumes.

He explored the vague boundary between robot endowed with human characteristics and humans themselves; and, in one of his novels, developed a set of ethics for robots that has greatly influenced other science fiction writers.

He also published two volumes of autobiography.
