  • I have to tell you how much I have enjoyed reading Conviction.  I purchased it on Amazon.com several months ago and loved it.  In particular, I enjoyed the character development of Mr. Markwood, who, in his own self-effacing way, is every bit as interesting of a hero as Darcy.  My favorite scene was where Markwood comforts Darcy as Elizabeth is dying.  There, Markwood's spirituality is so evident, and Darcy's reaction is completely within character [ . . . ] Your research into the nature of the 19th century Anglican church and the abolitionist movement added much to the overall plot.  Pamela Aidan (An Assembly Such as This, Duty and Desire) and you are two of the very few Regency-style authors who research their works thoroughly.  I am frequently disappointed by Regency-era settings where characters with modern-day sensibilities are dropped down into a Regency-era set devoid of any socio-political background.  Thank you for your fine work. - Elizabeth (Review received by e-mail)

Skylar Hamilton Burris is a graduate of the University of Virginia, where she earned a B.A. in English and Economics.  She received her M.A. in English from the University of Texas at Brownsville.  Her poetry and prose have appeared in numerous periodicals, and she is editor of Ancient Paths Literary Magazine.  Skylar is a full-time mom, caring for her little charge Shiloh Elizabeth.  While at home, she provides editing services for authors and businesses.
